About
Dr. Shenelle Wilson is a fellowship-trained urologist with expertise in sexual function, urogynecology, and pelvic reconstructive surgery. She earned her medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine in 2013 before completing residency at the Medical College of Georgia/Augusta University in 2018 and fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 2020.
At the Metro Atlanta Urology and Pelvic Health Center, Dr. Wilson focuses on reconstructive surgery and has a special interest in managing pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, and overactive bladder. She also offers a variety of treatments for prostate enlargement, erectile dysfunction and low testosterone. “Performing quality-of-life surgery is a privilege,” she says. “You have the opportunity to help others further enjoy their lives and experience dramatic improvements. It’s fantastic.”
Dr. Wilson is also the founder of Urology Unbound, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing diversity in urology. The organization runs a pipeline program for medical students pursuing a career in the field and she received the 2021 Young Urologist of the Year Award from the American Urological Association in recognition of her work. In addition to her work with Urology Unbound, Dr. Wilson has become a thought leader and speaker on topics that affect diversity, equity, and inclusion in the physician workforce. “I want to teach medical and healthcare organizations how to create diversity strategies that are transformative instead of performative.”
